Is it something your grandmother’s grandmother made by hand that got passed down through generations?
Is it a tradition that’s unique to your family?
Is it a certain stretch of beach?
A certain slant of light?
To show that the definition of home might be a little different for each of us, we invited Islanders/Epekwitnewaq to bring items that represented the idea of home with them to make this video.
Some items were old, some new. Some were big, some were small. The people who brought them were from all walks of life, young and old.
But as these items and people came together, one thing became clear.
While our definition of home may vary, it’s also the same.
That’s because for us, the definition of home is always this Island.
Always Epekwitk.
